Working with Passion for Engines!

When your organisation empowers you to do more, every day at work is a challenge to do something bigger! That’s exactly what happens at Mahindra AFS!

Journey and Early Days

I used to work in the projects team at Indore. After working there for about 4 years, I felt like getting some shop floor experience. My passion for engines drove me towards Mahindra AFS. When I was pursuing my studies in Hyderabad, many of my friends had already started working for Mahindra and for me, it had always been an aspirational organisation to work for.

I happened to apply for a position which I found extremely interesting and after multiple rounds, I was finally selected! Apart from my passion for engines, the reason for joining Mahindra was that my friends and family were in the same city. It’s been 2 unbelievably awe-inspiring years with Mahindra AFS and I am glad I chose to become a part of it.

At my previous job, the scope of growth was limited. Whereas at Mahindra, I was given an opportunity to handle all three divisions – machine shop, engine assembly and testing. It was a big responsibility but the organisation has always empowered me to face challenges with a valiant spirit.

Challenges and Opportunities

There was this time when I was asked to set up Central Expense and Tool Stores (CETS). This was something novel to me and clearly a challenge. However, I decided to face it and accepted no limits! The real challenge for me was to operate the CETS. In 2015, M_DURA engine shop started producing their first engine. Our team was supposed to procure expensive tools for producing engines. No one had the experience of using expensive tools in a city like Zaheerabad. To get a better understanding of this, we visited the Igatpuri plant since they already have a great engine making experience. We closely worked with them and set up our own CETS.

Working at Mahindra

The same expensive tools that were required for making engines are now being stored in our CETS! We are still working on its complete stability but I think we have done a commendable job as a team. Maintaining such an inventory was a learning experience for me. Moreover, it was appreciated by my seniors and teammates. I still consider it as one of my achievements.

My Mahindra Experience

Mahindra is also a great platform for recognition. Our team participated in the Mahindra innovation award which is a great platform to showcase innovations. We didn’t win the competition but we made it to the top 10 teams and I think it was a great achievement in itself!

If there’s one thing that I love about Mahindra AFS is that the people here are not only passionate but systematic too. My teammates are supportive and I enjoy working with them! The dedication I see at Mahindra is something I’ve never seen before!
