Revealed: Pininfarina designs Formula E concepts for Mahindra
What happens when Mahindra’s futuristic technology is paired with Pininfarina’s exceptional design?
After the acquisition of the leading Italian designing company, Pininfarina, everybody has been wondering what this duo will produce together. The result of the much-awaited takeover is a trio of Formula E electric concept race cars.
Pininfarina has put forward three concepts of race cars for Mahindra and Mahindra. The three concepts have been named simply as “Concept A” “Concept B,” and “Concept C” and are seen to share similar themes. However, there are certain differences maintained to give them an identity of their own. Concepts A and C won’t have the rear wings while Concept B will have a high tail wing with big aero scoop.
The designs are currently only in the initial stages, but they do give a hint of the chassis that is likely to be used in the future seasons of Formula racing. Though the teams currently use a common chassis, for now, it is speculated that soon they’ll enjoy their own designs too.
“Formula E is one of the most exciting signs of the changes underway in the automotive world as well as in motor racing,” Fabio Filippini, the chief creative officer of Pininfarina, recently quoted.
Mahindra has been involved in electric vehicles for a while, and their interest in Formula E racing cars further proves that they are really keen on doing something radical in the future.
In a recent interview with Autosport, Dilbagh Gill, Principal of Mahindra Racing team and head of the Formula E teams association, said “We thought, to start with, we’d put out the milder versions.”
If these are merely the ‘mild’ versions, one can easily forecast what the duo is planning to do in the future!
