Mahindra Swaraj Wins JIPM Award
Crossing new milestones in the journey of business excellence, Mahindra Swaraj Division’s teams at Plant 1 & Plant 2 have won the JIPM (Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance) award for excellence in consistent TPM commitment. In an endeavour to challenge the 2015 Excellence in Consistent TPM Commitment, the plant 1 and plant 2 of Swaraj Division successfully challenged conventions.
What made it a success?
The Total Productive Maintenance or TPM journey was initiated at the Swaraj Division in June 2009. The successful deployment of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) has been an important part of Swaraj’s business strategy. While gradually crossing the significant milestones in the path of TPM deployment, both the plants achieved the first milestone in 2012 by winning the TPM Excellence Award. According to Swaraj officials, teamwork in all the functions has played a crucial role in their success throughout the journey.
Mahindra Swaraj’s Journey to success
Under the guidance of leaders, constant efforts were made to keep up with the TPM commitment. Swaraj was able to achieve the second milestone of Excellence in Consistent TPM Commitment in the year 2015. During such efforts, three of the most distinguished auditors, Masayoshi Sugiura, Professor Tamotsu Nakamura, and Kazuyuki Yoko conducted the 1st and 2nd stage audits for plant 1 as well as plant 2. Excitingly, all three auditors highly appreciated the effective deployment of the TPM practices throughout the Swaraj division.
Swaraj team’s successful adoption of TPM is admirable and it can be treated as a stepping stone to build something better in the future.
