Dr. Pawan Goenka Awarded the Highly Acclaimed 2016 FISITA

Dr Pawan Goenka becomes the first Indian to be awarded the prestigious FISITA Medal of Honor 2016 in the 36^th FISITA World Automotive Congress. FISITA medal is a distinguished symbol of outstanding achievements in the field of automobiles. Previously, some great personalities like Giovanni Agnelli, Carlos Ghosn, Hans List, Francois Michelin and Shoichiro Toyoda have received this honor for their substantial contributions.

The Father of Scorpio

The nominations committee has proudly spelt the success of Dr Pawan Goenka. His contribution has not only benefitted the company but also the automotive sector on a large scale. The honour was awarded in recognition of his “particularly distinguished achievement and leadership in the Global Automotive Industry.”

Speaking of the recognition, Dr Pawan Goenka said, “It is an honour to have been chosen for this recognition by FISITA which I dedicate humbly to the automotive fraternity in India. I am particularly grateful to Mahindra, for providing me with a vast canvas to help me realise my dreams. The award is a tribute to the spirit of Rise which Mahindra stands for and represents through its research & development, products and services.”

Dr Pawan Goenka, currently the Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra and Chairman of the Board of Ssangyong Motors, has been a significant contributor to Mahindra’s growth journey. In his early years, he used to handle M&M’s Automotive and Farm equipment businesses and is rightfully called the Father of Scorpio, the best SUV of India for years. He is also the leading architect of SAE India that happens to be a popular chapter among the students of engineering colleges.

Humility towards Success

Despite gaining huge success in his life, Dr Goenka still credits his award to the automotive fraternity of India and his life to Mahindra for providing him with the platform to do the needful.
