Barron’s List Awards Automobile Baron Anand Mahindra
Barron’s List identifies the world’s best Chief Executives. This year, they took into account the given plummeting energy prices, China’s economic woes, and lukewarm corporate earnings. The previous annual list of the world’s 30 best CEOs had less volatile markets. The Barron’s list mentions that its annual list of top CEOs reflects the collective wisdom of the publication’s editors and writers. There are no specific criteria they seek, other than a history of strong leadership over a lengthy period; their preferred tenure is five years or more in the top job.
Barron’s also mentioned that Anand Mahindra has “transformed his family’s industrial business into a global conglomerate.”
“When India opened its economy to foreign competition in the 1990s, Mahindra & Mahindra seemed marked for extinction. But the Mahindra descendant restructured his family’s company, transforming a business that made tractors and jeeps for rural India into a global conglomerate with interests in autos, technology, finance, and more,”
Anand Mahindra is recognized for transforming the Mahindra Group into a global federation of companies that maintains a level of transparency, governance, and shareholder focus, rare in emerging markets, according to Barron’s.
Commenting on the recognition, Anand Mahindra said, “I am honoured at this recognition by Barron’s which is an affirmation of the Mahindra Group’s increasingly global character, our high standards of corporate governance, and focus on delivering consistent shareholder returns.”
In this list, Anand Mahindra had joined 29 global leaders which include Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Walt Disney’s Robert Iger, Alphabet’s Larry Page, and Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffet.
Key criteria for consideration include financial soundness, employee motivation, innovative products, and maintaining consistent profit growth and shareholder gains.
After this inspiring feat, the Mahindra Group is all set to making an indelible mark in the global markets!
